Norma Jeane has a special place in my heart. She's missed and loved by a lot of people who actually never met her and that's amazing. You just have to look in her eyes and you see the magic. She's a true legend, an angel and our EVERLASTING STAR.

Yes, thanks Paju and yes this has been on my mind too. I mentioned it to my boyfriend today. When I mentioned 43 years ago today, people woke up to some terribly shocking news, I had to remind him of what had happened. I guess people at the time of her death only saw the image her publicity portrayed. This happy looking, smiling beauty, who made them feel cheered and let them dream of a life that was not as dreary as theirs. Imagine waking up to find that the reality they thought they knew was not the reality of her life. How shocking that would be. But learning about her life, after her death, made her all the more real and all the more loved than she has ever been.

The George Barris photos that Tara mentions are also what I always think of at this time of year. This one is my favourite. She looks so fragile, tender and yet she is a real woman who I wish we could have had more years to have learnt from.

Although i never met you , it seems i did . For all these years have passed and i only can see you alive and well that is my fantasy . I have written stories on you , have altered your photograph's to see how you would look .
With plastic surgery, without , in broadway play's, as director, as playwriter, as an Aids activist ,even as a lovely granny. You have always inspired me and will continue on till my end . Back in August 5th 1992 i visited your last home in Brentwood and at Westwood where i finally found out that the Marilyn of my dreams instead of passing on is really a living legend . Tears ran down my face, dont know if it was joy or sorrow but hey i finally made it to your last resting place . As my Mama used to say "without dreams there wouldnt be legends and without legends there wouldnt be no Monroe".
