I was just reading about Marilyn being on the cover of the Beatles album and I thought I would try one myself. Do you know where to find Marilyn in the movie West Side Story?
dwane

Interesting tidbit: To connect West Side Story with Marilyn Monroe, did you know that George Chakiris, who played Natalie Wood's overprotective brother in the movie, was one of the dancers who escorted Marilyn in the Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend number? biggrin.gif Just thought that was COOL!
dwane
that's cool! smile1.gif

Geez, I haven't been very good at watching my posts. I'm such a bad boy. Anyway, in West Side Story, when they to the big musical number I Like To Be In America, they're all dancing on the roof. On the long shots, when they show the whole background, you can see Marilyn's giagantic face on the wall behind them. It looks like an old peeling billboard for Misfits. When West Side Story began shooting in NYC, they wanted it to be as convincing as possible to they had to find streets that they could use in the filming instead of building a set. A luck would have it, right at that time, there was an entire neighborhood being demolished so that the Metropolitan Opera could be built. The film company was given time to go in and shoot the location shots before the demolition began. The billboard is an actual ad for Misfits. It was put up in 1961 and they filmed in 1962. West Side Story was released in 1963 after Marilyn died. So it was a nice little tribute for them to use the shots of her face.
