Everlasting Star Community _ Announcements _ Important - Ongoing, Major Changes On Es

Posted by: mels Jun 3 2014, 09:33 PM

Dear Marilyn admirers,

For the past several months our online community has suffered from several waves of spam attacks, coupled with repeated harmful and distracting tensions between forum members. Both of these issues have dramatically degraded the atmosphere and quality of what we wanted to be a privileged place to discuss all Marilyn related matters.

Despite a lot of patience and dedication, and efforts made to keep this community alive and as warm as it used to be, we recently concluded that things were no longer working as they have for the past 10 years.

Therefore, some changes were recently implemented:

1. The community is now closed to new subscriptions. As of today, ES has become a private community that no longer accepts new members. This change has already been made and a message can now be seen for visitors who are not members. They can still browse the forum (no change on this point), but can no longer subscribe.

2. We have decided to be much less permissive with our members when it comes to respecting each other and remaining civil. Starting immediately, all members will be required to abide by the rules and guidelines of ES. They are pretty clear and easy to follow. Members who behave with civility and respect for other are still very much welcome. However, members blatantly ignoring these basic rules by exhibiting aggressive, rude and unacceptable behavior will simply have their access revoked without further warning, and will be banned permanently.

3. Members must keep their personal vendettas out of the ES forums. ES is not the place to confront people you are having issues with elsewhere on the web. Members airing grievances or differences, and/or attacking other members due to issues occurring elsewhere on the Internet will have their access revoked without further warning, and they too will be banned permanently.

I will end this message with the announcement that Tara has chosen to step away from her administrator position on these boards. I would like to send her a very, very special thank you. She has been such a great and dedicated admin for the past years. Without her kindness, dedication and patience everything would have probably fallen apart a long time ago, I hope everyone is aware of that. She will continue to write for the ES blog.

We are not yet sure how we will proceed with moderation of the forum, but we will keep you informed as soon as a final decision is made.

That is all for today.

If you have any question, please feel free to reply to this thread.

Thanks

Your admin team.

I understand these decisions Mels yes.gif and agree with them. It is unfortunate but indeed especially people bringing their fights to this community is a sad development and hasn't done the atmosphere any good. I hope we can go back to what ES really is, a wonderful place to share our admiration for Marilyn without trying to make it a competition thumbup.gif .

I also would like to thank Tara for all her hard work over the years clapping.gif marilynbybrandon_190.gif .

ES is and will hopefully always be my main place to go throb.gif

Yes, we will all miss Tara's efforts as an administrator. She was so understanding and gave everyone a different perspective with her kindness. And bless you Mels for your patience and sweetness in all things Marilyn.

Yes I agree

I'm at an age which, supposedly, does not like change, but I think this was necessary - if only to stop the increasing number of invasions by Alien hordes selling dodgy pills!
I am glad to know that Tara will be keeping up her Blog. She has given inestimable service to ES for which we are all most grateful.

I agree with what everyone's said. Thank you Tara, you did a great job as an admin all those years!

I also share everyone's sentiments here. And even though I am relatively new to ES, I would also like to thank Tara for the time she dedicated to administering this forum. I hope she still gives us plenty of insights into MM though!

Thanks a million Tara!

I do think it is a shame that this wonderful site and resource wont be open to future genuine fans as it is always good to share knowledge and hear new opinions, as long as they are genuine and not shouty. I would hope this decision could be reviewed in due course and maybe a one strike and out attitude could be taken with them if anyone steps out of line.

Tara - we are not worthy! I and no doubt many others have learnt so much from you and admired your patience and thoughtfulness on this board. I'll miss you as a mod. I do hope you will continue to post on here as well as blog. The place would be poorer without you bye1.gif Thank you for your tireless hard work on here over the past few years. x

Thank you to Tara and all the administrators and moderators who do a wonderful job and make this forum what it is.

Long live everlasting-star.net! marilynbybrandon_190.gif

This site is a sacred place on the web for all those that love MM and want to keep her work alive. So its important that only the right type of people are involved with ES. This is, and must remain, the place were MM and her memory takes first place over all other issues. I haven't posted a great deal of MM material myself as I like to leave that to the experts! But from ES I've learnt so much about MM and those involved in her career that I consider it a real education. There have been some great books about MM but I think this website tops all those for info, photos and most important of all credibility. It is the definitive MM experience and I thank everyone involved for their dedication. I totally support all moves to keep ES ontrack and devoted to our Marilyn Monroe!

I'd just like to thank everyone involved keeping ES up and going; the owner, the sponsors, the staff and the members! I've been coming here since I was about 15... and I'll turn 24 this month. mf_w00t1.gif ES has always been one of my favourite places for all things Marilyn. throb.gif

I also want to thank the sponsors and personnel of this forum, which is the number 1 A quality Marilyn Monroe forum in the Internet on this planet jumpymm.gif , there is no doubt about this.

The quality of the conversation is usually good, the spirit is upbringing, an enourmous amount of information, naturally sometimes debating what it and isn't true but that belongs here naturally.

The picture archives are a treasure.
