Everlasting Star Community _ Marilyn's movies _ The Proud Ones

Posted by: meganmarilyn Nov 10 2015, 07:54 AM

According to a newspaper clipping dated April 10, 1953.

Headline reads... "Marilyn Monroe gets her first chance for a dramatic role in Fox's 'THE PROUD ONE' in Cinema Scope."

I found a 20th Century Fox film by the name of THE PROUD ONES, advertisement poster shows it was filmed in Cinema Scope. But it was a Western and released in May 1956.

Don't know why an announcement would be made with Monroe in the film, a film that was 3 years later. Maybe Fox bought the rights to the film and envisioned Monroe in it. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes wouldn't be releasled until July 1953, and How to Marry A Millionaire in November. Guessing after her success in those comediies, their plans may have changed.
