Hiya girls! I know I haven't been around for a while but I've been snowed under with school work! However, I now need your help. I've been commisioned to do a pop art painting for a fellow Marilyn fan, but I don't know what to charge her for it. I'll post the original photo and the pop art I've done of it, and maybe you could all suggest what sort of price I could expect to fetch. If you could do it in £ sterling that would be super, but I can always convert it if it's in another currency. It will be 25" x 30" (w x h) on a box canvas, and I have to break even in terms of cost for the canvas, paints, time etc.
Thank you all so much in advance This post has been edited by marie-marilyn: Mar 25 2006, 09:39 AM

I'm sorry I can't help you with the pricing, but I think it's good that you want to get a good idea of it, so many people always over price! Great job on the painting and good luck with the price (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif)

Hi Marie,
I'm a painter too (graduating next year in graphic/screen arts and illustration at the artacademy) and I sell paintings. Based on the measurements and if you're a beginning artist (like me, I'm not famous (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ) I would charge somewhere between $50 - $80. Well at least, that's what I get for a painting that size in the Netherlands. I don't know how much they useally pay for a painting in your country. You can also think in another way: you set for yourself the amount of money per hour you want to have. Like $6 an hour. You work 10 hours on the painting so that's $60 (=purely fictionial, but I hope you get an idea of what I mean). I hope this helps. I'm always willing to help you out! Good luck!
