this is a long one

August 4 Saturday

---- Eunice Murray, Marilyn's "housekeeper," arrives at Marilyn's home at 8:30am. Her son-in-law, Norman Jefferies, is already there laying tiles on the kitchen floor.
---- Robert Kennedy flew into Los Angeles. This has been confirmed by Darryl Gates of the LAPD in his book "Chief: My Life in the LAPD" among other sources.

---- The citrus trees and various flowering plants that Marilyn had ordered from Frank's Nursery were delivered.

---- Morning: Marilyn and Pat Newcomb have an argument. Newcomb said the argument was because she had been able to sleep the night before and Marilyn had not.

---- 12:00 noon (approximately): Isadore Miller, Arthur Miller's father, called Marilyn around this time. According to Murray, Marilyn did not eat lunch. Pat Newcomb said that they did: hamburgers.

---- 2:00pm - 4:00pm: Somewhere between these times, auto mechanic, Henry D'Antonio, returned Mrs. Murray's car to Marilyn's home.

---- 4:00pm (approximately): Robert Kennedy arrived at Marilyn's home. Monroe's neighbor, Elizabeth Pollard, recalled seeing his arrival.

---- 4:00pm (approximately): Eunice Murray is told to leave and goes shopping. (She would later claim that there was an argument between Kennedy and Monroe, and she was told to leave.) It is possible that she picked up the Nembutal perscription that Dr. Engelberg had given Marilyn the day before. Although he claimed that it had been a prescription for 50 tablets, the San Vicente Pharmacy only gave 25 tablets. The empty bottle was found on Marilyn's night stand.

---- 5:00pm (approximately): Peter Lawford claimed to have called Marilyn to invite her to his dinner party that night.

---- According to Marilyn's hairdresser, Sidney Guilaroff, she called him and told him that Robert Kennedy and Peter Lawford had been to the house, that Bobby had threatened her, and that there had been an argument.

---- 5:00 - 5:30pm: Eunice Murray returns from shopping. Kennedy is gone and Marilyn is distraught. Murray calls Dr. Ralph Greenson. Her first version of the story did not mention Kennedy, rather she said that Marilyn had asked earlier in the day for oxygen, and she called Greenson regarding that.

---- 6:00pm (approximately): Dr. Greenson arrives at Marilyn's home. He tells Pat Newcomb to leave.

---- 7:00pm (approximately): Dr. Greenson leaves Marilyn's home.

---- 7:30pm (approximately): Joe DiMaggio, Jr. called Marilyn. He said she sounded normal. Murray described her demeanor while on the call as "a gay mood. . . I heard her laughing."

---- 7:30pm (approximately): Peter Lawford claimed to have received a phone call from Marilyn in which she sounded groggy and was slurring her words. It was this phone call in which she supposedly said, "Say goodbye to the president . . ." He said that he hung up the phone and called back, but got no answer. Although deeply concerned for her welfare, instead of making the ten minute drive to her home he called his manager, Milton Ebbins, for advice. Ebbins warned against taking action and advised him to call Marilyn's lawyer, Mickey Rudin.

---- 8:00pm - 9:00pm (between the hours of): Marilyn spoke to Henry Rosenfeld. He said she sounded tired, but herself. See July 31, 1962 for a previous call made to Rosenfeld.

---- 9:00pm (approximately): Marilyn's lawyer, Mickey Rudin, calls to check on Marilyn's condition. Eunice Murray tells him that she is fine.

---- 9:00pm (approximately): Marilyn called her hairdresser Sidney Guilaroff for the second time that day.

---- 9:00pm: Dinner, Chinese takeout, was served to Peter Lawford's guests at his beach house.

---- 9:30pm (approximately): Pat Newcomb arrives at Peter Lawford's beach house. This is confirmed by "Bullets" Durgon and Patricia Seaton Lawford, Peter's wife.

---- 10:00pm (approximately): The Naars, guests of Peter Lawford's, left.

---- 10:00pm (approximately): Peter Lawford's dinner guest confirmed that the last phone call from Marilyn came around 10:00pm. They said that Lawford showed no concern.

---- 10:00pm (approximately): Jose Bolanos claimed to have called Marilyn. He said that she excused herself from the phone and never came back.

---- 10:30pm (approximately): Ambulance driver for Shaefer Ambulance Service, James Hall, claims to have received a Code 3 call to Marilyn's home. He was accompanied by his partner, Murray Liebowitz. Hall claims that as they were working to revive Marilyn, who was lying on a bed in the guest house, a doctor, whom he later identified as Dr. Greenson, came in and administered an injection straight to the heart in an attempt to revive her. The needle hit a rib and did not enter the body correctly. He also claimed to have seen Pat Newcomb there.

---- 10:45pm (approximately): While attending a concert at the Hollywood Bowl, Arthur Jacobs and his wife-to-be, Natalie Trundy, received a message from Pat Newcomb that Marilyn was dead.

Today in Marilyn's history:

Out of the hospital, Gladys brings Norma Jean home to live with her at 6812 Arbol Drive (near Highland Avenue, in Hollywood), a bungalow she had just purchased. Glady's and Norma Jeane share their home with a couple of tenants. In attempt to secure Norma Jean's future, Gladys buys life insurance and buys NJ a baby white piano. Norma Jeane also starts attending Selma Avenue Elementart School. :saint:

No, well I just think that they both had eachother built up in their minds you know from like writing letters to eachother and stuff. Then when they actaully got together and married, that "fantasie" wore off and they saw eachothers true colors. I do think though that he took her for granted and "put baby in the corner". I also think he might of had some probs of his own, I think he battled his own demons too, and that can be difficult for two people like that to be together especially if they both want to be looked up to by the other person. but thats just an opinion nothing in stone,..
