I believe it was a christining ceremony for this Mexican Airline plane, opening a route from Los Angeles to Mexico-City in december 1950...
I am not 100% sure though (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/thumbup1.gif) Suus

Yes, I guess you are right. I remember it had something to do with Mexico and Burbank also (I'm not sure about that?) But anyway, thanks a lot for your help, Suus (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/hug.gif) + sharing the pics (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/wink3.gif)
If someone knows the year, date for sure, please let us know (I would love to put it into the right year-folder (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/wink3.gif) ) Thanks! |

HEY!!! WHAT CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!! LOOK AT THIS http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...3855560296&rd=1
QUOTE Oh this is a fabulous photo, not typically seen so perhaps IS worthy of the word RARE! At least it's unusual and unique. Shows a gorgeous Marilyn Monroe painting a huge map of Mexico on a DC-6 airplane. Dated December 2. 1950, the letter with it reads as follows:
" Pan American Airways Photo. Christening compania Mexicana de Aviacion's "El Internacional" schedules with Douglas superpowered DC-6s, actress Marilyn Monroe wields an artist's brush and palette, painting huge map on nose of airliner to indicate route of new five-hour nonstop direct run from Los Angeles to Mexico City. Others mentioned are Consul General of Mexico Salvador Duhard; Captn Roberto Pini who commanded flight; Woodruff de Silva, L.A. International Airport Manager, W.O.Willy, General Manager for CMA." (4 men are mentioned, only two are shown in the photo, so others must have been cropped out!) |
