I just borrowed this from my local library today. It's a first edition from 1956. I think the original title was 'Will Acting Spoil Marilyn Monroe?', and it might have been written for Time magazine. It's a series of interviews from around the time of Bus Stop, with people like Billy Wilder and Milton Greene as well as MM herself. I'm so pleased to have the chance to read it in full - only problem is, I don't wanna give it back!! Has anyone else got it/read it?

I've got it and have read it. It was originally a series for the Saturday Evening Post. It is interesting reading.
I can't imagine a library lending out a first edition, of that book. What I find more unbelievable is that someone hasn't borrowed it permanently before now. Wow! What a temptation.
I found the pics in the book, and in the magazine articles, enjoyable, too.

Hey, thanks for your reply, and also for the info about how the book originated. I don't think my library know what a gem they have on their hands! (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/balloon.gif)

hey there...sorry this reply is so much later, but i just got this book today...so i am curious if either one of you know if this book is extremely rare. and i know the price in the mm memorabilia book says $125 - $200...but that was from 2002, so has that price gone up at all?...even though i will probably never sell it (unless i am literally starving)
thanks for any info...

Just an idea: why don't you ask your library if they could sell it to you? Offer something that sounds like a decent price, but is really less than that (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/hypocrite.gif) because I really don't think your library knows what a gem that book is.

I'm getting this book - yay! After a long search I found it supercheap, the 1957 edition for 8 euro's! I couldn't believe it and bought it instantly. I'm getting and curious how it looks inside. Hopefully there are some pictures, and nice information. I'm so excited, hope to get it soon (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) .

Thank you, Tara.

I just got it today. It's wonderful - I love it! It's quite a short book, and 43 'lucious pictures' as the cover said. My edition is from 1956. There are some rare pictures in it, and the text seems nice. Love the text on the back: 'Will Acting Spoil Marilyn Monroe? Will Leaning Spoil The Tower of Pisa? Will Eating Spoil Cheesecake?' (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . I'm really happy with it!

I have been looking for a reasonably priced copy of this book for ages... And now I found one! I got it from Amazon Marketplace and it was shipped today just moments after I paid for it. I hope it arrives quickly. I'm on vacation the next week so I have plenty of time to read (IMG:http://d2eae8pjw8pj4b.cloudfront.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
