I thought about adding Freddie here, but I never did. (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes1.gif) Glad you did!
But yeah, he was a fan. (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/throb.gif) I have a video of him singing I Wanna Be Loved By You in a bubblebath! (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)
And in one of my magazines they even compare Freddie to Marilyn.

Catherine Deneuve on Marilyn Monroe

QUOTE
And yet you have said your favorite actress is Marilyn Monroe who was renowned as a sex object?

I have an admiration for Marilyn Monroe that—no, it's more than admiration. I have a love for that woman. For me she represents the highest point of femininity. There's something childish and sincere and overwhelming with her, I never saw anyone who gave off so much charm and warmth and tenderness and femininity all at once.

Then you admired her sex appeal?

It was sex appeal without vulgarity, not sexual sex, if you see what I mean. It was very abstract. You had the feeling she could fall asleep and no one would take advantage of her.

You think, then, Marilyn Monroe had appeal for women as well as for men?

I think women adore Marilyn, because she never represented a threat for them. She never frightened women the way that Marlene Dietrich did, for example. Marlene wasn't sympathetic to women. You sensed that she could come with her sophistication and her Germanic determination and take your man away. She was the vamp. Marilyn was never the vamp. She was more like a real person.

Vanessa Paradis is a huge Marilyn fan.

Her first big hit in the '80s was a song called "Marilyn et John":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31GRz9iPF1Y

She reportedly owns a necklace and a pair of shoes of Marilyn's:

http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/?showtopic=15681

http://www.contactmusic.com/news/vanessa-p...e-shoes_1152013

And here's an interview in which she talks about the book "Fragments":

http://www.allocine.fr/personne/ficheperso...cmedia=19374468

I don't speak French well, so I'm not sure exactly what she's saying but she saying something like she didn't want to read the book because she felt that it might be a little like reading someone's diary without their permission and that she felt like she was invading Marilyn's privacy by reading her personal private notes and letters, but as a fan, you really can't resist!

LOL wouldn't it be quicker and easier to list the people that don't like her?

I can only think of one.

Elizabeth Hurley

Nearly every one loves MM. But to be honest it annoys me. Hear me out on this....

It's almost like a trend with celebrities. How many of them actually know much about her? Probably about 20% of the people listed in the thread. Also sluts like Paris Whoreton opps I mean Hilton, claiming to be inspired by her, that's just bloody insulting, man, come on!

British soap star Helen Flanagan is a Marilyn Monroe fan. I'm sorry if it has been mentioned already but can't seem to see anything.

Who is she? She's an actress. A very bad and tacky one. Anyway, she's not long had this tattoo. It reminds me of Megan Fox's tattoo. I don't like it...haha! Well I will never get a tattoo anyway. Not my thing. (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/no.gif)

Also I read a mini interview with her recently and she was asked about which of Marilyn's films were her favourite. She answered "I like Some Like It Hot and My Week With Marilyn". Intelligent MM fans will know that My Week With Marilyn was not one of Marilyn's films! (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/nonono.gif)

Again, I'm sorry if this has been mentioned somewhere.

I became interested in the life of Marilyn Monroe for Madonna, with whom I´m a fan after more than 15 years.

In Spain, the most notorious fan called Marta Sánchez. Her voice is amazing, but for a fixed time only in her physical and relied heavily on Marilyn Monroe. Until Sánchez said: it's over!

Also, I´m a fan of her. In addition, she has improved a lot. Look for her on youtube, it's best to hear her live

Lana Del Rey seems to be a fan of Marilyn, she's always adding references to her in her music.

Puppy Love -
"Cause you’re the class president
Without Jackie O
And I’m singing happy birthday
Like Marilyn Monroe
...
While I’m singing for the soldiers like Marilyn Monroe
...
It's the real thing, when you
told me you loved me, promise I'll never
see Arthur or Bobby baby"

Hollywood's Dead -
"Hollywood's dead,
Elvis is crying,
Marilyn's sad,
Hendrix is lying there."

Body Electric -
"Elvis is my daddy, Marilyn’s my mother,
Jesus is my bestest friend."

Children of the Bad Revolution -
"Where the bad boys blow smoke
Just like they're James Dean
And the air girls blow kisses
Just like Marylin"

She also portrays her in the beginning of the music video "National Anthem".
Here's also a fan-made video for Lana's song "Afraid" featuring some Marilyn clips. It seems to suit her well!

Oh, and my father just told me he read a book that was basically just a long interview with Woody Allen, and he had some really good things to say about her... I haven't read the book myself yet, though. Even if he is my very favorite director ever:)

Whoopi Goldberg and Kevin Spacey have both said very wonderful things about Marilyn.

And Elle Fanning is a big Marilyn fan. In this interview she talks about the first time she saw The Seven Year Itch and buying some of Marilyn's things at auction (she talks about Marilyn for the first minute and 20-ish seconds of the video):

QUOTE(Paju @ Mar 5 2013, 01:47 AM) *

On "AFI's 100 Years...100 Stars" TV special in 1999, Marilyn ranked #12 on their list of the 50 greatest screen legends and a ton of modern actors were interviewed talking about their favourite classic actors and actresses. The clip of Marilyn's segment used to be on YouTube, but I couldn't find it.

But I was lucky enough to tape the special when it was on TV and here's what Kevin Spacey said about her:

"Marilyn Monroe was such an incredible study of an icon, who was also a sex symbol, but who you just know had a phenomenal intelligence."

He then went on to tell a story Jack Lemmon told him about how the black dress Marilyn wears outside the train in SLIH was originally going to be worn by him, but Marilyn liked it so much she stole it from his dressing room, had it re-sown for her body and by the time Jack found out, it was too late to have it fixed for him again, and Kevin said that whenever he and Jack would talk about Marilyn, Jack would always joke "she stole my dress!" lol

And here's what Whoopi Goldberg said:

"Marilyn Monroe's stardom was based on, first and foremost, seeing a Goddess come to life."

I also recall when that whole "sex tape" thing happened a while back, they were talking about it on The View and of all the 5 hosts, as I recall, Whoopi was the only one who didn't make jokes about it and defended Marilyn, saying something like it's sad how Marilyn's memory is being tainted by people trying to make money off of her name and if whoever has the tape isn't letting us see it how do we even know it's actually Marilyn and maybe he's just using her name to sell it for a fortune then once he does sell it, we'll all find out the woman in the tape isn't actually her and yatta yatta yatta...

In the AFI special, Cher also said some sweet things about Marilyn. She was talking about TPATS and raved about how great an actress Marilyn was and she had such great comic timing and that she stole every scene from Laurence Olivier.

I found these quotes from some modern day celebrities about Marilyn (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/balloon.gif)

"I guess what interests me the most about her is that struggle that I think that she had within herself to be authentic in a business that wanted her to be her image and I think that ultimately was the thing that killed her." Carrie-Anne Moss

"When I think about her legacy, she created this image of herself, and I don't know how much of that was her or not her and based on the quotes that I've read of hers, it was very much a presentation and not how she felt internally, so I think that because she died so young and the way that she did die, I think that people are very drawn to that mystery." Kristin Kreuk

"We want to have role models, we want to have people that are representations of full women and I think that's a really positive thing. She was a beautiful woman, obviously had dark issues that she was dealing with but she's immortalized herself essentially." Lucy Liu

"In All About Eve, she was fantastic! She was fantastic and practically every scene was with Bette Davis and George Saunders, right? That's impressive - to keep up with him and Bette Davis. She was great." Lisa Kudrow

"When I was growing up, she was the icon of women, you know?" Dennis Quaid

"How do you not love Marilyn Monroe? And as an 'actress'. You know, she was an icon and, but I think when people think 'actress', they think more Bette Davis than Marilyn but I think Marilyn was pretty phenomenal." Michael Chiklis

Whoopi Goldberg
is curating a new exhibition on Marilyn Monroe that will include the Hollywood sex symbols poetry, watercolors and video footage, as well as the iconic dress she wore to sing Happy Birthday to JFK in 1962.

http://wwd.com/eye/lifestyle/whoopi-goldbe...hibit-10561816/
Whoopi Goldberg-Curated Marilyn Monroe Exhibit Offers Insight Into the Late Icons Psyche
"Marilyn: Character Not Image" is open until Oct. 22 at Mana Contemporary.

Goldberg came here to visit the arts center and we were working on maybe doing a show of Marilyn Monroe, Eugene Lemay, president of Mana Contemporary, says. She had a personal connection and said, "I want to curate it."

Goldberg admits she's a huge fan of Monroe and also knows the Strasbergs, with whom Monroe was very close. Anna [Strasberg] is a friend of mine, so because of her, I've gotten to know a lot more about Marilyn, Goldberg says. She adds that Greene's photographs "specifically, one of Monroe smiling innocently in a pool while wearing a black-and-white-checkered bikini" had a strong effect on her.

"That's Norma Jean", Goldberg says, referring to the photo. "And then you see the next picture of her with Arthur Miller, and that's Marilyn Monroe." This duality is a recurring theme throughout the exhibit. A picture of Monroe with goats and a pony is mounted less than a hundred feet away from a pod containing her "Happy Birthday dress".

Goldberg says that she feels both "happy and sad" whenever she sees any of Monroe's belongings. Her work on the exhibit hasn't alleviated the conflict of her emotions, but it has opened her perspective. Here we all are together and here's this woman and how she may have seen herself sometimes, Goldberg says. "We are not perfect."

"They sewed her into that dress", she continues, referring to Monroe's 'Happy Birthday' performance outfit. "Literally, that's why she was late onto the stage because they were still sewing her into this dress because it had to look a certain way. So you look at the dress and then you look at the pool and you look at her with the goats and you think, 'Wow' . It makes me want to say to people, 'Just be careful how we treat each other. That's all. '"

http://www.documentjournal.com/article/wom...-marilyn-monroe
Whoopi Goldberg on Marilyn Monroe

"Is not easy to be a sex symbol", she discovered, "Marilyn gave you vulnerability. Historically, the roles of female stars have been typecasted as frivolous and subordinate to their male counterparts. When I think about her, I can't imagine what that had to be like: to try to be the artist that she knew she was while getting pigeonholed as T&A basically."

I represent that you don't have to be Marilyn. I represent that we exist in the same plane as performers, as actors. As we look at these women who are in movies now, we need to keep in mind that they have their real selves, they have their inner thoughts, and they are real people; they are not these images, they are breathing human beings. That is something Marilyn didn't get from audiences. Part of this is to remind people that [female actors] hurt and that they laugh."
