This would be a very good year to honor Marilyn with a posthumous Academy Award. It's been 50 years since her death, Michelle Williams was nominated for playing Marilyn in a movie about her life... It's about time Marilyn was recognized.

I think they're saying that Meryl Streep is likely to get it though. On all the TV speculation about who will win what, I've not heard anyone mention even once that Michelle Williams is in the running to win best actress. But on Oscar's night, you never know!

I have mixed feelings about her winning. On one hand the film is about Marilyn (although not a totally accurate one) and it would be great for Michelle to win. But on the other, it kind of sucks that Marilyn was never recognized in her own lifetime. And now when they realize that Hollywood trashed her while she was living and we have not seen anyone as talented or great as Marilyn, there is all this new focus and attention. I find it all a bit hypocritical

Well, Marilyn didn't get an Oscar this time either... When are they going to notice her?

No Oscar for Marilyn, but I did see glimpses of her in Octavia Spencer's and JLo's gowns, which reminded me of the Travilla GPB gold pleated dress and the ivory dress he made for Marilyn's personal use:
(IMG:http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_KgMdRyzCW4A/SLwXN8kK7JI/AAAAAAAAAXc/KGEnC6NN7n0/s400/Marilyn%20dress%202.jpg) (IMG:http://www.cottenkandi.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Octavia-Spencer-2012-Oscar-Red-Carpet.jpg) (IMG:http://redcfa.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Jennifer-Lopez-In-Zuhair-Murad-2012-Oscars.jpg) And, slightly off-topic, but when I searched Marilyn's pleated dresses I found a vintage, gold pleated Travilla dress for sale in LA - any size 6 ladies with $2495 to spend might want to have a look!
