May 6th 2005 : NEW RULES!

Before you start to post here, please remember that this is the place to ask only questions related to a photo or photographer, dates or events etc. It's not the right forum to post requests for/like

- bigger sizes
- without the watermark
- more from this session etc.

Those (for example) belong to the "Pictures Requests" subforum.

I don't think the girl in the photo looks like Marilyn, but the strange thing is it was published in a couple of magazine articles about MM in 1953, including one with pictures of her by Anthony Beauchamp.

Thank you Tara for including that link to the previous thread, I'd not seen it before and thanks also for the Anthony Beauchamp article on your website, very lovely photos with intriguing & insightful writing.

I don't think it looks like Marilyn, at all! The eyes and eyebrows are not right (the inside part of Marilyn's eyebrows, over the nose, were closer together), Marilyn's nostrils were slightly more narrow than the lady in the photograph, her mouth and hands look wrong too. I really don't think the angle of the model in the picture has anything to do with the fact that it just doesn't seem to be Marilyn.

She looks a lot like an actress I've seen in a few movies from the 40s-50s, but I just can't remember her name.

I'm going to stick with my 'It's not Marilyn' opinion... if you place a mirror on a flat surface and look down into it, wouldn't the eyebrows then appear to be closer together, if everything's falling forward?

I think that image was included in the article about Anthony Beauchamp just as an example of his photographic work... in the caption of the image within the article it states "... (keep the rug and the model, of course)..." if that actually was Marilyn, wouldn't it make sense to name her specifically as the 'model'?

I don't see it as MM either. The eyebrows aren't curved, as MM's were and distinct. The eyes are the giveaway. And the fingernails are cut. MM had long fingernails as we know.

Yes, you are correct. Funny that no one else picked up on that. Good call! I am certain it's not her. A mislabeled picture.

Yes, Nicky mentioned the mirror effect. And the girl does hang her hair over her left eye, opposite of MM's. So it's obviously not her.

Thank you all for responding (ever so). (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/marilynbybrandon_190.gif)

I've been watching a lot of classic movies (30s, 40s and 50s) lately and keeping an eye out for the model in the photo... I'm pretty sure I've seen her before and if I ever figure it out, I'll follow up and post her name.

Thank you again!
