Here are some photos of Shirley in I believe 1961. I'm still undecided. I have emailed a contact address for Ms MacLaine asking her to help. Let's see if she responds! [attachment=139985:Unknown.jpeg] [attachment=139984:images.jpeg] Good! I hope she will answer... |

I just received a response from Shirley MacLaine and she said it is NOT her in these photos! She didn't say who it was either. So we have a mystery woman here.

Who the Shirley Maclaine lookalike is in the Lawford home photos has continued to baffle me (see previous posts on this thread). Today I was flicking through Sam Shaw's book Marilyn Among Friends and in the Romanoff party section there is a woman called Zizi Jeanmaire who I think looks remarkably like Maclaine. Zizi knew Marilyn and had a career in Hollywood in the mid to late 50s. I think she is the woman in the photo with Sinatra, Marilyn, the Lawfords and May Britt - not Maclaine.

Well it's well known Shirley was a "pet" of the Rat Pack, but I, personally, truly do not believe that's her. It's more likely it's Zizi like M. Berton stated.

To me the woman is Zizi - I just think her facial features fit the woman in the picture more and Maclaine responded to my email that it isn't her. Zizi was a singer and dancer so she would have gravitated to the Rat Pack during her time in Hollywood.
From Wikipedia: Born in Paris, France, as Renée Marcelle Jeanmaire, she met her future husband and long-time collaborator Roland Petit at the Paris Opera Ballet at the age of nine. She joined his company, Petit's ballets de Paris in 1949. In 1954 they married, and their successful shows put her on the road to stardom. This led to a brief stint in Hollywood (where she was credited simply as Jeanmaire), appearing in the musicals Hans Christian Andersen (1952) and Anything Goes (1956). After that, she concentrated on ballet, producing more than 60 shows with Petit. From the 1960s on, she also had a career in music with such hits as "Mon truc en plumes". Here she is on the set of Anything Goes filmed in 1956. Sinatra did a TV version of the musical in 1954. ![]() From the book They Knew Marilyn Monroe: ZIZI JEANMAIRE French ballet dancer who had a brief career in Hollywood musical films. On November 6, 1954, Jeanmaire was one of the invited guests at Romanoff’s restaurant in Hollywood where a party had been organized to honor MM and her new film, The Seven Year Itch. On Jeanmaire’s table was a centerpiece of Marilyn in the skirt-blowing scene from the movie. Jeanmaire was appearing on Broadway in The Girl in Pink Tights, the film version of which Marilyn had refused to do (Shaw & Rosten 76). This post has been edited by mberton: May 21 2013, 11:51 PM |

I think that Shirley don't say the thruth! Compare... Eric, we could go on disagreeing forever - and that's fine! (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/thumbup1.gif) I am convinced it is Zizi - to me the nose and chin match the woman in the photo. Maclaine's nose tips up and the chin isn't as round. And the email Maclaine sent me is genuine. I can't see why Maclaine wouldn't tell the truth seeing as she has been open about the Rat Pack in all her books. So case closed for this member! (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) I believe there are two books written by Zizi in French (2002 and 2008). Perhaps if someone can access those and see if she has written anything about Marilyn and the Rat Pack that might help? This post has been edited by mberton: May 22 2013, 09:40 PM |

Still think the woman is Zizi - caption from your source does not spell May Britt correctly. Attached another image of Zizi from the early 60s. For me the case is closed! I would lean towards it being Shirley as the woman in the photo has a fringe similar to that of which Shirley had in that time period and there are no photos of Zizi with a hairstyle that has a fringe unless one can be found. Her hairstyle at the front seems different to what Shirley had.
