There was something funny about the file format of the picture which didn't allow me to see it in full size in Internet Explorer. (Photoshop told me there was an inbedded image which doesn't match or correspond with current CMYK settings....)

However, I got it by a PM and converted it to jpg (probably got rid of the imbedded image) and now it works for me too.

Just in case someone else got the same problem with the file, you can try this one.

ANTIQUE?
Riding high is cute Marilyn Monroe, Columbia Pictures starlet, as she tries out the "Columbian"—ultra fashionable bicycle built in 1875. The rare bike will be one of many thousands of priceless items on display at the second annual Pacific Coast Antiques Show, which opens a 5day run at the San Francisco Civic Audiloium next Tuesday

May 19, 1948 Wilmington Daily Press Journal, CA. What I found interesting about the write up is she is called a Columbia Pictures actress and is riding a "Columbian" bicycle, little pun on their part. This was advertising the 3rd Annual Pacific Coast Antique Show in Los Angeles.

Her photo was also used on November 4, 1948 in the Sausalito News, to advertise the 2nd Annual Pacific Coast Antiques Show in San Francisco.

It seems Marilyn's photo was also used two years in a row. This one in the May 24, 1949 edition of the Los Angeles Times is advertising the 4th Annual Pacific Coast Antique Show.

Since the photos were taken for this event, as evidenced by the props she was posing with, I would date them Spring of 1948. This also discounts that Ed Baird took them in 1947, as some believe because of the clothes she is wearing. She was with Columbia by the time these were taken, and the studio is also credited in the caption. Possibly some studio photographer took them for publicity, or a photographer for the newspaper.
