So who else will buy the Blu-ray dvd? I've heard it's in colour. Like others, I'm skeptical about the film being reproduced in colour as B&W suits it perfectly with the 1920s time frame and everything. I'm worried it'll look overdone (I'm thinking along the lines of Jack and Tony's female make-up may have been touched up as being over-the-top by today's film editors) but then at the same time I'm excited as I'm interested in which colours were used where.

That's what Marilyn didn't like about her appearance in the film. I agree with everyone above that it was a small role for Marilyn considering how big a star she was at the time and Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis were the stars. We are talking about it because of the genius of the film, the genius of Billy Wilder and Jack, Tony and of course, Marilyn and the supporting cast: Joe E. Brown, George Raft, Pat O'Brien, Joan Shawlee, etc. But sure, I wish Marilyn had a HUGE PART!! You just can never take your eyes of of her! This is my top fave, it's just so funny and brilliantly done! Marilyn wanted it to be shot in colour but it was shot in b/w because the guys' makeup looked too green/clownish on film. Apparently there are "coloured" versions though (colour after).
