Didn't Jack Lemmon wear a red wig too? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I always thought Jack wore a blonde wig, but just scanning through my colour SLIH photos, they are mostly red-ish wigs! I always only thought that Tony Curtis had the darker coloured wig. But in black and white, it looks more blonde...

Daphne also tells Osgood in the motorboat at the end of the picture, that he/she isn't "a natural blonde".

You know, you can't really go by what the color pictures look like anyway. When they filmed The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy's white blouse in the black and white parts of the movie was actually pink in color. Then, for the color shots, it was a different blouse that was actually white. I think they did that so the white blouse wouldn't show up too white in black and white and get too washed out. So, I guess in black and white movies, different colors produce different shades of black and white and grey. Strawberry blonds is a more subdued blonde than Marilyn's white blonde. And to us, it just shows up as two different shades of blonde.

Excellent point, Tony. Never thought of that!

I've noticed too that some of the girls' hair in Sweet Sue's band do seem to have the same shade of Marilyn's hair in B&W, but in color it's a different story...

And boy, that really came as a shock to me RE: The Wizard of Oz!

It also depends on what kind of color film and the type of processing you're using. In 1939, it was very different than 1959, but I'm sure that different shades of white, beige, ivory, gray taupe all looked like different shades of 'white' on black and white film.

Yes! I caught the last ten minutes or so of it early in the morning and I also saw the whole of the beach sequence when it was repeated later on so I decided to get out my copy of the collector's edition and watched the special features - for the millionth time! I watched SLIH again this week and I had a thought. When Sugar plays the ukulele on the train (during Runnin' Wild), it sort of works. But can you possibly imagine seeing Marilyn in that eye-poppingly risqué silver gown, sitting amongst the other band members strumming on the ukulele?! No wonder there were no scenes like that; it just wouldn't look believeable! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Has anyone noticed how Billy Wilder plays an extra in this film? At least I think it's him. It was in the scene where we first see Marilyn and she's walking along the platform. There's a guy walking behind her and he eventually boards the train through a door just behind Jack and Tony. Of course, we are constantly looking at this beautiful woman that is Sugar Kane that we wouldn't have noticed him, so I wonder if it was him? A clever thing if he did! Check it out and tell me what you think.

There was a discussion on IMDb about this. I was wondering if anybody here noticed it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/coolio.gif)
