Thanks Roksana, very interesting. (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/clapping.gif)

I wonder where they got the idea that Arthur was still in love with his first wife, Mary? Of all the explanations for the breakup of his marriage to Marilyn, this one is new to me. Because after all, Arthur made a lasting marriage with Inge Morath soon after this article was published.

The interviews were interesting - particularly Arthur's parents. His mother died in March 1961, a month after the article was published. Zolotow's comments about how hard it was for Marilyn to have a normal married life also gave me pause for thought.

Once again, thanks for sharing. (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)

Great article, it's always nice to read about Marilyn the person, rather than the movie star or bombshell (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif)

"Look at me. See what I am? I'm Supposed to be exactly what you see...nothing beneath this dress, even... nothing except that calendar girl."

It's sad, because it's true to this day how people see Marilyn (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/no.gif)

That was the most amazing article I have read on her! I'm speechless! They got her persona down perfectly. What the world saw her as, and what she really was in her own eyes and wanted to be. You really get a sense of looking thru her eyes and what she was going thru at that time in her life. The majority of the world who see Marilyn as a pinup model or a woman that wiggles. With no brain. And the struggle she fought against day to day to negate that image. She was always looking for that idyllic love and happiness as the article stated. Fame, money...in the end all that matters is one's own happiness. When I look into her eyes I don't see the 'fame' surrounding Marilyn or the 'aura of sex appeal' that the public wanted from her. I see a human being with real emotions, who suffered just as we all do in our day to day lives. But she knew the strength inside her and kept looking for that rainbow. Amazing woman she was.
