I hope you enjoy it Sirkku. I have now seen this movie and it really is a worthwhile watch. I think for me, the fact it shows Amy Winehouse as a person who was funny, witty, intelligent and caring is such a relief. Many people just saw her well publicised problems, not her wonderful talent for singing and songwriting and that she was just a lovely lady. For me the correlation with Marilyn is that many people just see her for her problems and the way she died not that she was lovely lady who was very talented. I saw people leave this movie documentary in tears and I must say at times I fought them back - both with happiness, particularly when she wins her Grammy and also with sadness at the end. Knowing her story already I did see a few missing areas of information and I understand why the family, particularly her father, are not happy with it but it is definitely a worthwhile watch and worthwhile watching it on the big screen where the sound and footage is very powerful.

We went to see Amy last night with my boyfriend. I enjoyed it, because like you said, it shows her as a human being who, yes, has her problems and troubles but it also funny, witty, wonderfully creative and just amazingly talented. I loved the Grammy part as well as the Tony Bennett part. Also, I think the movie (or the director) was not looking for one person to blame for what happened: you can see that several people, including Amy herself, did things they shouldn't have done. I have always appreciated Amy as an artist and felt sad every time she was not feeling so well and basically made into a joke. I'm just sad that she didn't get to live longer. Part of that is because I think we missed out on some really amazing music, but even if she had withdrawn completely and never made music again, at least she'd still be alive.

If you've not heard of Amy Winehouse sit up and take notice! I went to see her in concert last night in London and all I can say is I've never seen such pure raw talent and genius. Known in the UK originally for her voice but now more for her tabloid exploits, turbulent love life, drug taking and drinking - I pray she does not turn into a Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison or Jimi Hendrix and leave this planet early.

If it is your sort of music and you get the chance to see her live, do it! She's a legend in her own lifetime.

Very scary that we have just gone through the 10th anniversary of Amy's passing and very scary seeing my premonition in my post when I first started this thread. Lovely that she has been so remembered. A greatly missed talent and a beautiful soul.

She was 27. Her whole life ahead of her. It kills me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/no.gif)

Amy Winehouse has been watching Marilyn Monroe movies in rehab.

The troubled star - who entered London's Capio Nightingale Hospital last week after footage of her smoking what appeared to be crack cocaine was released - is a huge fan of the 50s icon and is using her films to help her through her battle with drugs.

Amy's dad Mitch said: "Amy is very ill and is suffering horrific withdrawal symptoms - shivering and constantly throwing up. Her body is expelling all the rubbish. "One thing helping Amy is her Marilyn Monroe films. Amy loves 'Some Like It Hot'.

She's a huge fan of Monroe and thinks she's wonderful.

I will watch the video for sure. Just went thru this whole thread as I'd forgotten all that was said. I wish I could post one of my favorite of Amy.
