is this picture really of marilyn in the open casket? you can't see her but i thought it was a closed casket, i mean this pic could have been snapped before they closed the casket forever.

i was just curious about this photo.

I don't really see anyone Dwane, to be honest. Here's a picture of a few caskets, and they are supposed to be exact replicas of Marilyn's casket. If that's true, then the picture you posted can't be Marilyn's. The outside is different.

I believe it's an empty casket. It's in the same place too. Check out the wall and the lamps are the same.

That photo has been discussed on another board. Someone said he had a book which that pic was in, and in the book it said that it was a pic of Marilyn's casket, but that it doesn't exist any photos of Marilyn's open caskets with her in it.

Joan Greenson said in a tv interview that photos were taken of her in the casket by the press. I know that she doesn't come from exactly honest stock but maybe it did happen. I've never seen any photos of it though. Don't know if I would want to though. I avoid the autopsy one but I kinda pretend it isn't her when I do accidentally see it as it the picture isn't immediately identifiable.

i'm really curious about that too, i'm sure it would look better than he autopsy pic. they should have NEVER let that leak out. total invasion of privacy, i hope marilyn haunts whoever spread that pic around.

i know if i was dead, i wouldn't want pics of my dead body circulating all over the internet, magazines, etc.

And Marilyn was so anxious about how she was seen, how the public perceived her. I've seen so many people who met her quoted as saying that she was scared by the thought that someone may be taking pictures of her when she wasn't aware of it, and Eve Arnold said it was soo difficult to take "candids" of her because she seemed to sense where the camera was and kept posing to it. She was so in control of her public image. And they're circulating pics of her dead, cut up body. That's way beyond disrespectful.

Personally, I am not interested in seeing Marilyn Monroe's lifeless body. If Marilyn's not there...what's the point? One of the reasons I enjoy seeing her pictures so much is that she always brings life to her photos. Looking at a body that used to hold so much spirit, and now it is gone, just makes me sad.

i think it's more out of curiousity, maybe just to see if she still looked like the marilyn we all knew, full of life. i'm just curious, it's not like i'm dying to see it, but if one ever comes out of the woodwork i'd probably see it sooner or later. just like the autopsy pic, nobody wants to see it, but you end up seeing it sooner or later.

Oh, I didn't mean any offense to any one who was curious. Of course, since it is such a morbid subject, it's not unusual to be curious. It's just my preference not to see something so depressing.
