Hey Jeannette! I've seen those tutorials before, and thought wow!!! They look awesome! Unfortunately, I have no idea how to use the pen tool, so I'm going to do her tutorial for that first and then try these ones out. I love the look of them! Thanks for sharing them! A SIMPLE BUT COOL SKETCH EFFECT (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/clapping.gif)

I used PS v8.0.1 Spanish version

1.- Duplicate Original
2.- Hide Original
3.- Desaturate Copy (Image/Adjustments/Desaturate or Ctrl + Shift + U)
Attached File sketch0001.jpg ( 54.02K )Number of downloads: 52

4.- Duplicate Copy
5.- Invert Copy2 (Image/Adjustments/Invert or Ctrl + I)
Attached File sketch0002.jpg ( 62.39K )Number of downloads: 47

6.- Select inverted layer and from the Blending Modes choose Color Dodge (Alt + Shift + D)
7.- Not worry you if see it almost blank whole
Attached File sketch0003.jpg ( 68.21K )Number of downloads: 40

8.- Now go to Filter/Blur/Gaussian Blur. My radius was 7
Attached File sketch0004.jpg ( 206.91K )Number of downloads: 45

9.- If you look for this last effect, you will have to repeat it several times (Ctrl+F)
Attached File sketch0005.jpg ( 263.22K )Number of downloads: 69

I hope that you had liked (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/throb.gif)

EFFECT COMIC

Photoshop 8.0.1. Spanish version

1.- Duplicate Original
Attached File Comic0001.jpg ( 18.85K )Number of downloads: 40

2.- Add a Cutout effect (Filter/Artistic/Cutout) The settings of which depends on your photo. The goal is not to lose a lot of color but in the same time making the photo colors as simple as a comic still. This is my settings for this photo:
Attached File Comic0002.jpg ( 73.19K )Number of downloads: 42

3.- Duplicate this last one layer
Attached File Comic0003.jpg ( 19.46K )Number of downloads: 41

4.- Now use to Smart Blur (Filter/Blur/Smart Blur) Here the mode must be "Edge Only" because we only need the edges of our photo. Again, the settings depend on the photo we'll be using. Here, the goal is to add the number of lines that will fit for our photo. My settings:
Attached File Comic0004.jpg ( 32.03K )Number of downloads: 41

5.- YouŽll see this or similar:
Attached File Comic0005.jpg ( 66.58K )Number of downloads: 38

6.- Inverse the new layer (Ctrl+I) and get this effect:
Attached File Comic0006.jpg ( 67.81K )Number of downloads: 42

7.- Since our colors are under this layer, we simply delete whatever white we have in this layer. We do this by using Color Range (Select/Color Range) and selecting a white spot in our layer.
Attached File Comic0007.jpg ( 29.55K )Number of downloads: 40
Attached File Comic0008.jpg ( 78.51K )Number of downloads: 43

8.- We create the white selection and push delete to delete it.
Attached File Comic0009.jpg ( 77.93K )Number of downloads: 42

Attached File Comic0010.jpg ( 158.77K )Number of downloads: 74

I'm having some problems with the colouring and adding borders on my text, I was wondering if you had any tips? I love how you have done the text in your signature!

Oh, it's quite easy to add borders and such to your text. You just look on your Layers Palette and click on the little "f" and it gives you many options. Here I have attached some shots...

I did an "outer glow" on the text in my sig. (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/balloon.gif)

For the border, you choose "stroke". It gives you many options for everything, just play around with it til you find something you like (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif)

Here's a tutorial I just made up, for something really simple you can do to add some extra oomph to your photos. I do it all the time. (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
