Earl Theisen did a shoot with her wearing a potatoe-sack, MMs hair is curly (first photo) in december 1951. But I am wondering about photo 2&3 actually... Her hair is different suggesting it was a different shoot at a different time (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/eyebrow.gif) . Does anyone know more, was she photograped on two different ocassions in a patatosack (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/hmm.gif) ?

I only know of one shoot, but I'm not an expert. Maybe the last two were taken later in the shoot and her curls had come out a little? That's all I can think of. Cause the sack's ripped up at the neck in the last two pics as well.

#2 & #3 look strange because the writing on the potato sack is backwards & upside down + she isn't wearing those clear lucite platform shoes! I don't think it's the same photo shoot at all! (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/no.gif)

I guess 1952 for the first photo I posted and 1951 for photo nr.2&3 but then still remains this question... which shoot was done by Theisen (or did he do both) (IMG:http://www.everlasting-star.net/boards/style_emoticons/default/hmm.gif) ?

I don't think so♥

I never know what to believe anymore, but I have this in my files saying the 1952 shoot is by Gene Kornman. Who knows where that came from though.

Theisen was a photographer for LOOK magazine. Kornman was a Fox photographer. It matches up that there were two different potato sack photos. Thanks Jim♥

Yes, when the magazine's photographers were invited to Fox studio for a reportage, they shot pictures but with the responsibility of the Fox, Fox's photographers and too, assistants. As we have often seen, there were several photographers on the shootings.

I've always wondered if the photos you say are from 1951 where she's in the chair are really Marilyn Monroe?I am a huge fan of her in the potato sack photos. Here are all of the ones I have found online...Also, here's one of her in a red swim suit on cover of Le Ore magazine 1954 holding onto the same post as in the potato sack dress photos!

I flipped the 1951 photo, and it says Deschutes Potatoes. Did a search, and found this article from The Eugene Register-Guard (Eugene, Oregon), 1944. Talking about the Deschutes Potatoes.

Earl Theisen photographed MM for Look magazine's October 23, 1951 issue with that sack.

She was photographed in February 1952 wearing the Idaho Potatoe Sack. A wire photo from February 25, 1952, says the Studio Publicity men had a quick comeback when Hollywood Columnists criticized MM's clothing.
